Untitled by Cyndie Belhumeur & Shaneela Boodoo

ARTISTS: Cyndie Belhumeur + Shaneela Boodoo LOCATION: The Garrick, 330 Garry Street [East-facing wall] MURAL TITLE: coming soon ABOUT MURAL: Through this collaboration process, local emerging visual artist Shaneela collected "data" of Winnipeg, including personal photos, memories, feelings, emotions and experiences. Cyndie then transform the data and collected images to pull out textures, patterns, and gradients to develop a mural that is a representation of Winnipeg. ABOUT ARTISTS: Cyndie Belhumeur is a multidisciplinary artist living in Montreal. Through her practice, Cyndie questions sensitive representations of an ever-evolving volume of information. Using different approaches and mediums, she plays with accumulation, density, intimacy and overload of information to draw invisible links between virtual and real. She pushes back notions of limits and exchanges between physical and digital aspects as well as the changes that this relationship arouses in our understanding of the world. Cyndie aims to overwhelm the spectator presenting a multitude of intertwined elements by using multiple images, superimpositions and a variety of mediums. With these, she attempts to arouse a variety of interpretations, even opposing ones: organic and psychic, harmonized and chaotic and disturbing. Shaneela Boodoo is a graduate of the University of Manitoba with a BFA Honours in design. She is an emerging artist and designer currently based here in Winnipeg, Manitoba. She does a little of everything: design, installation, illustration, and even some photography as of recently, but her practice is firmly rooted in design. Shaneela enjoys exploring topics such as her identity as a woman of colour and personal relationships through her own documentation of them. Partners: Synonym Art Consultation, Graffiti Art Programming, Downtown Winnipeg BIZ Sponsors: Benjamin Moore, United Rentals Photo by Emily Christie
